Sue Lappan To All Instructors
Assistant Director & Teacher
Sue Lappan has a background in textiles and art with a BS in Textile Print Design from Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science and also attended Massachusetts College of Art and Moore College of Art. While studying textiles in Scotland, She was inspired by their openness to experiment with random materials and craft in very different ways. This idea has turned into an interest to work with many craft forms, while also playing with unusual and varied materials.
Sue started making Art quilts and Art dolls, which have been published in Art Doll Quarterly. She spent years painting furniture, rooms and murals and loves playing with paint materials. She has always been interested in archeology and indigenous craft, and is inspired by their use of color and detail. She is a doll maker by trade and owns a small business selling eco-friendly sewn toys, dolls and baby items.
She is a homeschooling mom of a 13 year old and has taught kids, ages 3-10, at Firefly for the past 3 years as well as at various Homeschool cooperatives in New York state. Her classes range from Maker Space, Comic Books, Textile Arts, Paper Engineering, Paper Circuitry, Fairy Furniture and Play n Learn Math to 2-D Art, Sewing, Mindfulness and Archeology. Sue also currently teaches various art related classes online on Outschool. She believes there are no mistakes, only accidents we can learn and grow from. Sue moved to the Athens area 3 years ago and looks forward to sharing her love of cultures, materials, and craft with your kids!
